Going into 5th grade I thought I was going to play the saxophone. However, it looked intimidating with its reeds and many, many keys for my tiny hands to master. The trumpet, with its 3 keys and comparative visual simplicity, caught my eye. “Now this I can handle” I thought, naively.

Since then, and with the support of several fantastic teachers over the years, I haven’t been able to put the horn down - with the exception of an extended break during the COVID-19 pandemic during which we welcomed our daughter into the world and moved across the country.

Today I perform across a variety of ensembles and genres including traditional band literature, orchestral, chamber music, and jazz with several groups in the Portland metro region including the:

• Beaverton Community Bands (principal)

• Cedar Hills Brass Quintet (associate member)

• Beaverton Symphony Orchestra

• Tualatin Valley Symphony

• Tilikum Chamber Orchestra

• Lake Oswego Millenium Concert Band

Before relocating to Portland from Washington DC, I studied under Paul Baldino, John Thyhsen and Robert Birch on the east coast and performed with the:

• National Institutes of Health Philharmonia

• Capital City Symphony

• The George Washington University Bands and Orchestra

• Philadelphia Sinfonia

• Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Bands and Orchestra
